Things to do

The word has it that Sabah owns several dive sites rated amongst the top ten in the world is for you to discover. The legendary oceanographer, Jacques Costeau once visited Sipadan and quoted 'I have seen other places like Sipadan, 45 years ago, but now no more. Now we have found again an untouched piece of art ... a jewel'. Over the years, divers from around the world travelled extensively to Sabah to dive at Sipadan, Mabul, Lankayan, Layang-Layang and Kapalai - each offering distinctive underwater experience.

In Sabah, divers will appreciate the memorable encounters with rare or endangered underwater creatures such as green and hawksbill turtles, napolean wrasse, giant clams, as well as countless species of sharks and schools of thousands of barracuda and jacks. Sabah is also famed for its 'Muck diving' paradise with such rarities as the mimic octopus, flamboyant cuttlefish mandarin fish, harlequin ghost pipefish plus many types of weird and wonderful frogfish and nudibranchs.

Sounds too pathetic because you can’t dive? Here is the good news! Contact a local diver operator and enroll in one of the many PADI affiliated dive courses run at one of Sabah's dive resorts. Your historic underwater adventure will begin in Sabah!

Note: Permit to enter Sipadan must be applied in advance.
